The Smart Newsjacking Tool - Google News Directly in Your Google Sheets

Who is New Jacker for?

For PR specialists (newsjacking and coverage)

Stay ahead of the media cycle. With real-time Google News monitoring in Google Sheets, PR teams can instantly spot trending stories, filter them by region, language, or date, and select the most relevant ones for quick responses. This makes newsjacking fast and effortless, helping your brand ride the wave of hot topics and secure more coverage.

For marketers and entrepreneurs (customers and competitors)

Turn Google News into a competitive intelligence tool. By tracking specific keywords, company names, or URLs, marketers can monitor both potential clients and direct competitors. With description  and clicabled links, you can uncover opportunities for outreach, watch competitor moves, and fuel campaigns with fresh, relevant insights — all directly inside Google Sheets.

For Researchers and Analysts (in-depth queries)

Go beyond simple searches. The tool supports advanced operators — AND, OR, quotation marks, exclusions — allowing researchers to create complex queries and extract exactly the information they need from global news sources. With filters by country, language, and time period, you can create precise data sets for analysis without getting bogged down in irrelevant headlines.

Universal benefits: time savings and automation

No more endless scrolling or manual copy-paste. Instead of wasting hours digging through feeds, you get structured, relevant news in seconds: headline, summary, link, date, and source neatly organized in Google Sheets. With one click, you mark what matters and archive it for future content, reports, or campaigns.

How it works

Step 1 — Set up. Copy the Sheet, authorize once, and you’re ready to go.

Step 2 — Tell it what to watch. Add keywords. You can also use advanced queries, including boolean strings and X-ray operators. This version handles ≤3 words per run).

Step 3 — Fine-tune scope. In Setup, pick Language/Country, set Max_results, and limit dates with after/before (YYYY-MM-DD). (Note: large search engines sometimes reindex articles, so dates can vary slightly.)

Step 4 — Pull the feed. Run AI Agent → Google News. Results populate automatically; this version allows 5 runs/day and ~150 news items/day in total.

Step 5 — Curate. In Results, check Yes? next to good hits (you’ll see Keyword, Headline, Link, Publication date, Source).

Step 6 — Save the shortlist. Use Transfer to Best to move chosen items into your working archive.

Step 7 — Translate if needed. Apply GOOGLETRANSLATE() to any cell to work across languages.

Result: a clean, ready-to-use list of relevant stories (description + link) for posts, briefs, or research.
